Gung Haggis Fat Choy is an evening of fun and food that combines some of the traditions of Chinese New Year with Robbie Burns Day. It's a silly combo that started in Vancouver some years ago, and has now spread around the world, even celebrated by the Chinese community in Scotland. Here in the South End, our festivities include haggis-stabbing, dancing, music, poetry, auction and raffle as well as a completely non-traditional (but delicious) burger buffet. (Haggis burger anyone???) Bring your dancing shoes, your appetite, your poems, your songs, and ALL your spare change. This is a SECA fundraiser and it's good luck for the New Year to give money away! Friday, January 24th, 6 pm at Alice's Restaurant at 728 Nicol St. Tickets cost $12 for adults, $6 for kids, or $30 for a family. Get yours at Sandra's Head to Toe Salon, 721 Haliburton, or contact Sydney at 250 753 1584 or fernville@shaw.ca.
